Controlling magnetic configuration in soft–hard bilayers probed by polarized neutron reflectometry

چکیده
Hard/soft magnetic bilayer thin films have been widely used in data storage technologies and permanent magnet applications. The configuration response to temperatures fields these heterostructures are considered be highly dependent on the interfacial coupling. However, intrinsic properties of each layers, such as saturation magnetization layer thickness, also strongly influence configuration. Changing parameters provides an effective method tailor composite magnets. Here, we use polarized neutron reflectometry (PNR) experimentally probe configurations hard/soft films: L10-FePt/A1-FePt, [Co/Pd]/CoPd, [Co/Pt]/FeNi, L10-FePt/Fe, all which a perpendicular anisotropy hard layer. These were designed with different soft thicknesses (tsoft thard) (Mssoft Mshard). influences in-plane field (Hip) temperature (T) studied using L10-FePt/A1-FePt sample. Comparing PNR results micromagnetic simulations reveals that is tsoft, Mssoft, external factors (Hip T) has relatively weak dependence thard Mshard. Key among results, for layers rigidly coupled out-of-plane direction then undergo transition relax in-plane. This can delayed larger tsoft by decreasing Mssoft. Magnetic structure of greigite (Fe3S4) probed by neutron powder diffraction and polarized neutron diffraction
[1] We have investigated greigite (Fe3S4) using a combination of neutron powder diffraction and polarized neutron diffraction to give the first unambiguous assignment of its magnetic structure. Our results confirm that greigite has a collinear ferrimagnetic structure with antiferromagnetic coupling between the tetrahedral (A) and octahedral (B) sites. Our analysis also indicates that greigite d...
متن کاملDetermination of the magnetic field penetration depth in YBa2Cu307-d superconducting films by polarized neutron reflectometry
Polarized neutron reflectometry was used for the direct measurement of the magnetic-field penetration depth in a high-temperature (HT,) superconducting film. Two scattering geometries were used. The deduced neutron scattering length density profile gave an exact picture of the composition of the film. The fit to the spin-asymmetry yielded a magnetic-penetration depth of 1400 2 100 A at a temper...
متن کاملPolarized Neutron Reflectometry of Nickel Corrosion Inhibitors.
Polarized neutron reflectometry has been used to investigate the detailed adsorption behavior and corrosion inhibition mechanism of two surfactants on a nickel surface under acidic conditions. Both the corrosion of the nickel surface and the structure of the adsorbed surfactant layer could be monitored in situ by the use of different solvent contrasts. Layer thicknesses and roughnesses were eva...

متن کاملNeutron reflectometry of supported hybrid bilayers with inserted peptide.
The insertion of a synthetic amphiphilic, α-helical peptide into a supported hybrid bilayer membrane (HBM) was studied by neutron reflectometry to elucidate the resulting nanostructure. The HBM consisted of a self-assembled monolayer of perdeuterated octadecanethiol on gold and an overlying leaflet of acyl-deuterated phosphatidylcholine (d-DMPC). Using contrast variation, several reflectivity s...
