چکیده
Poisoning tolerance of Pt-based catalyst is an important parameter for the designing direct electrochemical fuel cells (EFCs) based on electrooxidation alcohols (i.e. methanol, ethanol). Applicability ethanol EFCs still challenging taking into account lack effective electrocatalysts which are able to produce high faradic current densities and stability towards strong adsorption C1 C2 oxidation products. As we present here, mono- bimetallic have been synthesized a carbon black support elecotrooxidation in acidic media. Depending molar ratio between poly-n-vinylpyrrolidone (PVP, acting as protecting agent) Pt, nanoparticle size distribution has controlled, obtaining optimal condition Pt loading electroactive surface area (ECSA) PVP/Pt = 1. The behavior electrocatalyst Pt/Re/CB-1 shows negligible variation ECSA (98.3 m2 g−1) comparison with monometallic electrodes (90.2 g−1). In contrast, addition Ir tends reduce by agglomeration some nanoparticles decreasing its performance. Incorporation Re alloy promotes bond breaking intermediates adsorbed surface, specifically molecules, releasing great number active sites from minimizing deactivation cycling providing remarkable stable specific small amounts Re.

Introduction The desire to controllably tune catalyst properties has generated increased interest in the controlled preparation of supported nanoparticle catalysts. Particle size, composition, and morphology may have substantial influences on catalytic activity and, more importantly, selectivity. However, few preparative routes exist to prepare supported catalysts of welldefined morphologies. S...

We employed an efficient and facile route to synthesise monodisperse Pd-based bimetallic nanocrystals (MPd: M = Cu, Co and Ni) via a controlled co-reduction of Pd(ii) chloride and M(ii) nitrate at 200-230 °C in the presence of oleylamine (OAm). These monodisperse Pd-based nanocrystals have small dimensions, unique structures and homogeneous morphology, thus exhibit efficient catalytic activitie...
متن کاملPt based anode catalysts for direct ethanol fuel cells
In the present work several Pt-based anode catalysts supported on carbon XC-72R were prepared with a novel method and characterized by means of XRD, TEM and XPS analysis. It was found that all these catalysts are consisted of uniform nanosized particles with sharp distribution and Pt lattice parameter decreases with the addition of Ru or Pd and increases with the addition of Sn or W. Cyclic vol...
متن کاملBimetallic catalysts for continuous catalytic wet air oxidation of phenol.
Catalytic wet oxidation has proved to be effective at eliminating hazardous organic compounds, such as phenol, from waste waters. However, the lack of active long-life oxidation catalysts which can perform in aqueous phase is its main drawback. This study explores the ability of bimetallic supported catalysts to oxidize aqueous phenol solutions using air as oxidant. Combinations of 2% of CoO, F...
متن کاملDesorption of Furfural from Bimetallic Pt-Fe Oxides/Alumina Catalysts
In this work, the desorption of furfural, which is a competitive intermediate during the production of biofuel and valuable aromatic compounds, was studied using pure alumina, as well as alumina impregnated with iron and platinum oxides both individually and in combination, using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The bimetallic sample exhibited the lowest desorption percentage for furfural. Hig...
