Control Structure Design Using Global Sensitivity Analysis for Mineral Processes under Uncertainties

Multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) systems can be found in many industrial processes, including mining processes. In practice, these are difficult to control due the interactions of their input variables inherent uncertainty Depending on MIMO process, different strategies implemented achieve desired performance. Among is use a decentralized structure that considers several subsystems for which SISO controller designed. this study, methodology based global sensitivity analysis (GSA) design structures processes under presented. GSA has not yet been applied purpose process control; it allows us understand dynamic behavior broad value range, unlike approaches proposed literature. The Sobol method, provides indices used as interaction measures establish input–output pairing systems. Two case studies semi-autogenous grinding (SAG) mill solvent extraction (SX) plant presented demonstrate applicability methodology. results indicate 2 × 3 SAG SX plant, respectively, exhibit good performance compared MPC. For example, mill, determined pairings were fresh ore flux/fraction filling power consumption/percentage critical speed.
