چکیده
Abstract Objective To evaluate the accuracy and safety of contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) guided biopsy in diagnosis radiologically determined pleural based lesions. Method A prospective study was conducted on patients with Patients who met inclusion criteria received by CEUS to obtain specimens, followed histomathological microbiological examinations. After treatment follow-up, surgical thoracoscopy performed cases undefinite diagnosis. Result total 460 were finally included. showed internal necrosis 72.17% obvious peripheral vessels 55.43% cases, both which significantly higher than conventional imaged ( p < 0.05). The diagnostic through sampling 98.91% (455/460). yield achieved 71.88% (225/313) infectious In 330 combined effusion, increased from 60.30% (199 /330) 98.36% (325 all 0.05), 15.56% (14/90) 94.44% (85/90) malignant lesions 0.01) 77.08% (185/240) 100% (240/240) No serious adverse events occurred. Conclusion provides a minimally invasive, effective safe method for Clinical Trials Registration : Chinese Trial Registry ChiCTR2000029749 (ChiCTR, www.chictr.org.cn ).

Combined ultrasound-guided cutting-needle biopsy and standard pleural biopsy for diagnosis of malignant pleural effusions
BACKGROUND The most efficient approach to diagnose malignant pleural effusions (MPEs) is still controversial and uncertain. This study aimed to evaluate the utility of a combined approach using ultrasound (US)-guided cutting-needle biopsy (CNB) and standard pleural biopsy (SPB) for diagnosing MPE. METHODS Pleural effusions were collected from 172 patients for biochemical and microbiological a...
متن کاملApproach to undiagnosed exudative pleural effusion: the diagnostic yield of blind pleural biopsy
Background: Blind percutaneous pleural biopsy has traditionally been performed to investigate the etiology of exudative pleural effusion in which the initial thoracocentesis has been non- diagnostic. In view of the increasing use of image-guided and thoracoscopic pleural biopsies, this study examined the role of blind Abrams pleural biopsy in the investigation of the exudative pleural effusion ...

OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to retrospectively evaluate the diagnostic accuracy and complications of CT-guided core needle biopsy (CT-guided CNB) of pleural lesion and the possible effects of influencing factors. MATERIALS AND METHODS From September 2007 to June 2013, 88 consecutive patients (60 men and 28 women; mean [± standard deviation] age, 51.1 ± 14.4 years; range, 19-78 yea...
متن کاملDiagnostic yield of closed pleural biopsy in exudative pleural effusion.
OBJECTIVE Closed pleural biopsy is known to be diagnostic in approximately 75% of pleural effusion undiagnosed by thoracocentesis or pleural fluid evaluation. The purpose of this study was to determine the efficacy of closed pleural biopsy in a Saudi tertiary care teaching hospital. METHODS We retrospectively reviewed the diagnostic utility of all closed pleural biopsies performed from Januar...
متن کاملDiagnostic yield of pleural biopsy in exudative pleural effusion.
To know the diagnostic role of pleural biopsy in determining underlying etiological causes of exudative pleural effusion. A total of 47 patients, aged 16-104 years with mean age of 47.36 years, of either sex, with exudative pleural effusion underwent closed pleural biopsy with Abram's needle in standard way. Average 4-6 biopsy specimens were obtained from each patient, which were sent for histo...
