Ryanodine receptor purified from crayfish skeletal muscle.
The ryanodine receptor was isolated from the sarcoplasmic reticulum of crayfish skeletal muscle. Ryanodine binding to the native fraction was measured by Scatchard analysis and values of 60 nmol/l and 9 pmol/mg were obtained for KD and Bmax respectively. The identity of purified receptor was confirmed by electron microscopy, electrophoresis and incorporation into planar lipid bilayers. At least...
متن کاملDoes the crayfish tail fan sense chemicals
Crayfish depend on sensilla, small cuticular structures occurring all over their bodies to acquire information about their outside environment. Sensilla contain sensory neurons that are either mechanoreceptive or chemoreceptive. The tail fan of crayfish houses numerous sensilla that contain mechanoreceptor neurons and their activation by animals approaching from behind elicits a tail-flip escap...

متن کاملRegulation of tail muscle hexokinase in the anoxia-tolerant freshwater crayfish, Orconectes virilis
Hexokinase (HK)(E.C.2.7.1.1) is the enzyme responsible for catalyzing the first step of glucose metabolism, the phosphorylation of glucose to glucose-6-phosphate (G6P). The present study investigated HK from tail muscle of the freshwater crayfish Oconectes virilis exploring changes to kinetic properties, phosphorylation levels and structural stability between two forms of the enzyme (aerobic co...
