Contractibility of deformation spaces of G–trees
Forester has defined spaces of simplicial tree actions for a finitely generated group, called deformation spaces. Culler and Vogtmann’s Outer space is an example of a deformation space. Using ideas from Skora’s proof of the contractibility of Outer space, we show that under some mild hypotheses deformation spaces are contractible. AMS Classification 20E08; 20F65, 20F28
متن کاملA Fixed Point Theorem for Deformation Spaces of G–trees
For a finitely generated free group Fn, of rank at least 2, any finite subgroup of Out(Fn) can be realized as a group of automorphisms of a graph with fundamental group Fn. This result, known as Out(Fn) realization, was proved by Zimmermann, Culler and Khramtsov. This theorem is comparable to Nielsen realization as proved by Kerckhoff: for a closed surface with negative Euler characteristic, an...
متن کاملsome properties of fuzzy hilbert spaces and norm of operators
in this thesis, at first we investigate the bounded inverse theorem on fuzzy normed linear spaces and study the set of all compact operators on these spaces. then we introduce the notions of fuzzy boundedness and investigate a new norm operators and the relationship between continuity and boundedness. and, we show that the space of all fuzzy bounded operators is complete. finally, we define...

We construct an invariant deformation retract of a deformation space of G–trees. We show that this complex is finite dimensional in certain cases and provide an example that is not finite dimensional. Using this complex we compute the automorphism group of the classical non-solvable Baumslag–Solitar groups BS(p, q). The most interesting case is when p properly divides q. Collins and Levin compu...
متن کاملA pr 2 00 7 DEFORMATION SPACES OF TREES
Let G be a finitely generated group. Two simplicial G-trees are said to be in the same deformation space if they have the same elliptic subgroups (if H fixes a point in one tree, it also does in the other). Examples include Culler-Vogtmann’s outer space, and spaces of JSJ decompositions. We discuss what features are common to trees in a given deformation space, how to pass from one tree to all ...
