The shallow foundations that often characterizes multi-span masonry arch bridges are highly vulnerable to the soil settlements typically induced by riverbed scouring. Consequently, monitoring of scouring effects is paramount importance ensure safe operation these river bridges. Within a recent collaboration between Politecnico di Milano and Regione Lombardia, bridge has been selected exemplify quasi-static strategy capable detecting flood-induced scour. structure, built during second half 19th century, was subjected numerous strengthening interventions, especially on pier resting riverbed. installed heterogeneous sensor network consists tiltmeters (measuring rotation piers at skewback level), 1 weather station, hydrometer, echo-sounder. In addition, detection debris accumulation performed with cameras taking pictures from upstream side. After concise description structure Sesia River, paper focuses adopted measuring system results obtained in first months continuous monitoring.
