Continuous co-processing of HTL bio-oil with renewable feed for drop-in biofuels production for sustainable refinery processes

چکیده

This study demonstrates the co-hydrodeoxygenation of partially upgraded bio-oil (PUB) obtained from hydrothermal liquefaction pinewood, with rapeseed oil (RO) to produce bio-derived drop-in fuel. Enhanced miscibility PUB in RO showed high potential HTL for co-processing different refinery streams existing refineries. Co-processing experiments were conducted a continuous unit under processing conditions and results compared hydroprocessed oils produced pure RO. Temperature weight hourly space velocity (WHSV) are found be important parameters achieve complete deoxygenation controlling properties co-processed bio-oils. Product quality analysis bio-oils optimized no oxygen contents micro carbon residue but n-paraffins. Furthermore, boiling point distribution was measured by SimDis, which analogous range biodiesel. Fuel characteristic such as flash point, pour cloud points also improved Therefore, this that can successfully renewable feed petroleum hydroprocessing without any modification reduce environmental impacts overcome cost, availability sustainability issues oleochemical based feedstocks.

Environmentally-Benign Dimethyl Carbonate-Mediated Production of Chemicals and Biofuels from Renewable Bio-Oil

Due to the increasing emission of carbon dioxide (CO2), the development of fuels and chemicals based on renewable resources has attracted much attention. Bio-oil, as a carbon rich material, has been considered as a feedstock for biodiesel production. In conventional methanol-mediated transesterification of bio-oil for biodiesel production, significant amounts of glycerol are being generated as ...

Life-cycle assessment of transportation biofuels from hydrothermal liquefaction of forest residues in British Columbia

Background Biofuels from hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) of abundantly available forest residues in British Columbia (BC) can potentially make great contributions to reduce the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the transportation sector. A life-cycle assessment was conducted to quantify the GHG emissions of a hypothetic 100 million liters per year HTL biofuel system in the Coast Region of BC....
