چکیده
Abstract This Letter develops a method to constrain the cosmological constant Λ from binary galaxies, focusing on Milky Way and Andromeda galaxies. We provide an analytical solution two-body problem with show that ratio between Keplerian period T Λ = 2 π / stretchy="false">( c stretchy="false">) ≈ 63.2 Gyr controls importance of effects constant. The Andromeda–Milky orbit has ∼17 Gyr, so dark energy be taken into account. Using current best mass estimates we find value upper bound is 5.44 times obtained by Planck. With future astrometric measurements, can reduced $\left(1.67\pm 0.79\right){{\rm{\Lambda }}}_{\mathrm{PL}}$?> 1.67 ± 0.79 PL . Our results offer prospects constraints over very different scales than previously. Local Group provides also completely novel platform test alternative theories gravity. illustrate this deriving bounds scalar-tensor gravity megaparsec scales.

Constraining dark energy from the abundance of weak gravitational lenses
We examine the prospect of using the observed abundance of weak gravitational lenses to constrain the equation-of-state parameter w = p/ρ of the dark energy. Dark energy modifies the distance-redshift relation, the amplitude of the matter power spectrum, and the rate of structure growth. As a result, it affects the efficiency with which dark-matter concentrations produce detectable weak-lensing...
متن کاملProspects in Constraining the Dark Energy Potential
We generalize to non-flat geometries the formalism of Simon et al. (2005) to reconstruct the dark energy potential. This formalismmakes use of quantities similar to the Horizon-flow parameters in inflation, can, in principle, be made non-parametric and is general enough to be applied outside the simple, single scalar field quintessence. Since presently available and forthcoming data do not allo...
متن کاملConstraining the coupling constant between dark energy and dark matter
We have investigated constraints on the coupling between dark matter and the interacting Chaplygin gas. Our results indicate that the coupling constant c between these two entities can take arbitrary values, which can be either positive or negative, thus giving arbitrary freedom to the inter-conversion between Chaplygin gas and dark matter. Thus, our results indicate that the restriction 0 < c ...
متن کاملDark energy and the mass of the Local Group
Dark energy must be taken into account to estimate more reliably the amount of dark matter and how it is distributed in the local universe. For systems several Mpc across like the Local Group, we introduce three self-consistent independent mass estimators. These account for the antigravity effect of dark energy treated as Einstein’s cosmological constant Λ. The first is a modified Kahn-Woltjer ...
متن کاملConstraining dark energy with gamma - ray bursts
We use the cosmology-independent gamma-ray burst (GRB) distances of Wang (2008) to constrain dark energy cosmological model parameters. Current GRB data alone can not tightly constrain cosmological parameters and allow for a wide range of dark energy models. When used jointly with current Type Ia supernovae data and baryon acoustic peak measurements, the GRB data favor slightly lower values of ...
