چکیده

A field experiment was conducted during the rainy (kharif) season of 2019 at ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, to study effect different tillage and weed-management practices on productivity, water energy-use efficiency pearl millet [Pennisetum glaucum (L.). R. Br.]. The laid out in a split-plot design, with main plot, viz. conventional (CT), zero (ZT), + residue (ZT R) 3 t/ha, weed management subplot, weedy check, hand-weeding (HW) 30 50 days after sowing (DAS), pre-emergence (PE) atrazine @ 0.75 kg/ha followed by (fb) post-emergence (PoE) 2,4-D kg/ha, PE, PE fb tembotrione 0.05 PoE, 0.075 0.10 PoE replications. performance ZT R significantly better terms grain (2.40 t/ha) stover yields (7.90 compared CT, but par ZT. Similarly, HW DAS resulted higher (2.53 t/ ha) (8.13 than other practices, kg/ ha PoE. Higher water-use (6.45 kg/ha-mm) recorded under among practices. Net energy output (111,046 MJ/ha) (11.9) were also control. Cultivating either 2 or found-energy efficient eco-friendly rainfed conditions for productivity.

Assessment of genetic diversity in accessions of pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum) and napier grass (Pennisetum purpureum) using microsatellite (ISSR) markers

Pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum (L.) R. Br.) and napier grass (Pennisetum purpureum Schumach) are the most economically important species in the genus Pennisetum. Knowledge of genetic diversity of these two species would enhance their potentials for utilization. The present work assessed the genetic diversity and phylogenetic relationship among Nigerian and Indian accessions of pearl millet an...

Reproduction of Belonolaimus longicaudatus, Meloidogyne javanica, Paratrichodorus minor, and Pratylenchus brachyurus on Pearl Millet (Pennisetum glaucum).

Pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum) has potential as a grain crop for dryland crop production in the southeastern United States. Whether or not pearl millet will be compatible in rotation with cotton (Gossypium hirsutum), corn (Zea mays), and peanut (Arachis hypogaea) will depend, in part, on its host status for important plant-parasitic nematodes of these crops. The pearl millet hybrid 'TifGrain...

Agronomic and physiological responses of pearl millet ecotype (Pennisetum glaucum (L.) R. Br.) to saline irrigation

The objective of this study was to identify morphological and physiological traits for salinity tolerance in Tunisian autochthonous ZZ pearl millet ecotype (Pennisetum glaucum (L.) R. Br) under local conditions. ZZ ecotype was cultivated under different levels of salinity and growth parameters, water relations and mineral content were measured. Results showed that ZZ pearl millet ecotype was un...

Occurrence and Exposure Assessment of Aflatoxin B1 and Ochratoxin A in Pearl Millet (Pennisetum glaucum L.) from Tunisia

Background: Ochratoxin A (OTA) and Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) are toxic secondary  metabolites produced by certain mold species. In this primarily survey, we examined the OTA and AFB1 contamination of pearl millet grains distributed in Tunisia. Methods: Twenty-five pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum L.) samples from different regions of Tunisia were analyzed by High Performance Liquid Chromatography co...

Evolution of Neutral and Flowering Genes along Pearl Millet (Pennisetum glaucum) Domestication

BACKGROUND Pearl millet landraces display an important variation in their cycle duration. This diversity contributes to the stability of crop production in the Sahel despite inter-annual rainfall fluctuation. Conservation of phenological diversity is important for the future of pearl millet improvement and sustainable use. Identification of genes contributing to flowering time variation is ther...
