Connecting Water Access with Multidimensional Poverty: The Case of Tupiza River Basin in Bolivia

In developing countries, where economic expansion depends on extractive activities such as agriculture and mining, water quantity quality considerations need to be examined in tandem with GDP growth poverty reduction efforts. Poorest households the Tupiza watershed Bolivia are located rural areas access for irrigation safe drinking is becoming increasingly scarce. Small-scale unregulated mining offers an alternative revenue making households, although wastewater from industry threatens new technologies reduce pollution not implemented this region yet. This study analyses linkages using Multidimensional Poverty Analysis (MDPA) framework Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) guide a survey develop indicators Shapley-Owen decomposition method multivariate regressions.
