Conflicts in East Asia: How Are They Different from Europe’s?

While the threats that turned Europe into most explosive part of world in last century appear to be quite relevant for Asia, European-style security institutions do not seem work Asia. The key reasons are historically embedded roots insecurity, more acute territorial divisions, specific (non-Western) understanding security, and ethnically-driven separatist irredentist movements. Also, as deglobalization increases international system becomes less manageable, East Asian countries tend push harder pursuing an autonomous policy.
