Confirmed polyphyly, generic recircumscription and typification of <i>Dysoxylum</i> (Meliaceae), with revised disposition of currently accepted species

The hypothesis that Dysoxylum (Meliaceae), as currently circumscribed, is polyphyletic tested. Analyses based on nuclear ribosomal ITS, ETS, the plastid trnL-trnF intron and intergenic spacer, well rps15-ycf1 spacer support this hypothesis. Six strongly supported clades within s.l. were recovered, in large part supporting classification of Harms. Based largest molecular phylogenetic tree hitherto assembled, morphological considerations, a revised disposition 94 recognized species, presented, reinstating genera Didymocheton, Epicharis, Goniocheton, Prasoxylon Pseudocarapa. first valid publication generic name identified, it typified with D. macrocarpum. Forty-three new combinations at species level two infraspecific are proposed; Didymocheton nutans, alatum, pachyphyllum, Trichilia spectabilis T. alliacea (second step) lectotypified.
