HYPOTHESIS TESTING FOR AN EXCHANGEABLE NORMAL DISTRIBUTION
Consider an exchangeable normal vector with parameters ????2, and ?. On the basis of a vector observation some tests about these parameters are found and their properties are discussed. A simulation study for these tests and a few nonparametric tests are presented. Some advantages and disadvantages of these tests are discussed and a few applications are given.
متن کاملConfidence Intervals and Hypothesis Tests
Overview: Recall that a point estimator for a parameter of interest is a statistic which is a function of the random variables from which our sampling method chooses values. The properties of such an estimator, such as having a small bias or a small mean square error, are usually dependent only upon certain features of the sampling distribution of the statistic, such as its mean or variance. Ho...
متن کاملMultistage Hypothesis Tests for the Mean of a Normal Distribution ∗
In this paper, we have developed new multistage tests which guarantee prescribed level of power and are more efficient than previous tests in terms of average sampling number and the number of sampling operations. Without truncation, the maximum sampling numbers of our testing plans are absolutely bounded. Based on geometrical arguments, we have derived extremely tight bounds for the operating ...
متن کاملExact maximum coverage probabilities of confidence intervals with increasing bounds for Poisson distribution mean
A Poisson distribution is well used as a standard model for analyzing count data. So the Poisson distribution parameter estimation is widely applied in practice. Providing accurate confidence intervals for the discrete distribution parameters is very difficult. So far, many asymptotic confidence intervals for the mean of Poisson distribution is provided. It is known that the coverag...
متن کاملConfidence Intervals for Mean and Difference of Means of Normal Distributions with Unknown Coefficients of Variation
This paper proposes confidence intervals for a single mean and difference of two means of normal distributions with unknown coefficients of variation (CVs). The generalized confidence interval (GCI) approach and large sample (LS) approach were proposed to construct confidence intervals for the single normal mean with unknown CV. These confidence intervals were compared with existing confidence ...
