Condition-Based Maintenance Strategies to Enhance the Durability of ETICS

The increase of awareness with sustainability and the desire reducing energy consumption in construction sector haved increased application External Thermal Insulation Composite Systems (ETICS) across Europe last decades. Nevertheless, implementation appropriate maintenance strategies is still neglected. aim this study to analyse impact different strategies. For that purpose, a condition-based model, based on Petri nets, used evaluate three strategies: MS1—total replacement only; MS2—combination minor intervention total replacement; MS3—combination cleaning operations, intervention, replacement. In end, multi-criteria analysis discuss proposed, evaluating remaining service life, global costs over time, ETICS’ degradation condition, number replacements (end life) time horizon. sample 378 ETICS was analysed, situ visual inspections, carried out Portugal. results from reveal plays an important role durability ETICS, therefore their sustainability. Regular can promote extension ETICS’s life between 88% 159% (between 15 27 years), improve condition reduce users by deeper interventions.
