Concurrent Process Histories and Resource Transducers

چکیده

We identify the algebraic structure of material histories generated by concurrent processes. Specifically, we extend existing categorical theories resource convertibility to capture interaction. Our formalism admits an intuitive graphical presentation via string diagrams for proarrow equipments. also consider certain induced categories transducers, which are independent interest due their unusual structure.

Characterising Concurrent Histories

Non-interleaving semantics of concurrent systems is often expressed using posets, where causally related events are ordered and concurrent events are unordered. Each causal poset describes a unique concurrent history, i.e., a set of executions, expressed as sequences or step sequences, that are consistent with it. Moreover, a poset captures all precedence-based invariant relationships between t...

Design histories for enhanced concurrent structural design

The leisure boatbuilding industry has tight profit margins that demand that boats are created to a high quality but with low cost. This requirement means reduced design times combined with increased use of design for production can lead to large benefits. The evolutionary nature of the boatbuilding industry can lead to a large usage of previous vessels in new designs. With the increase in autom...

Towards Concurrent Resource Managed Deduction towards Concurrent Resource Managed Deduction

In this paper, we describe an architecture for resource guided concurrent mecha-nised deduction which is motivated by some ndings in cognitive science. Its beneets are illustrated by comparing it with traditional proof search techniques. In particular, we introduce the notion of focused search and show that a reasoning system can be built as the cooperative collection of concurrently acting spe...

Specifying and Verifying Concurrent Algorithms with Histories and Subjectivity

We present a lightweight approach to Hoare-style specifications for fine-grained concurrency, based on a notion of time-stamped histories that abstractly capture atomic changes in the program state. Our key observation is that histories form a partial commutative monoid, a structure fundamental for representation of concurrent resources. This insight provides us with a unifying mechanism that a...

Resource-Passing Concurrent Programming

The use of types to deal with access capabilities of program entities is becoming increasingly popular. In concurrent logic programming, the first attempt was made in Moded Flat GHC in 1990, which gave polarity structures (modes) to every variable occurrence and every predicate argument. Strong moding turned out to play fundamental rôles in programming, implementation and the in-depth understan...
