Hypercementosis and concrescence of maxillary second molar with third molar: a case report and review of literature.
Concrescence signifies a rare developmental alteration, most commonly in maxillary molars, where two fully formed teeth with separate root canal structures are fused with cementum. Clinical detection is difficult due to lack of enamel involvement and radiographic detection may be challenging, as two dimensional images may be misdiagnosed as overlap, superimposition or close proximity of roots. An unusual case of an impacted right maxillary third molar that was accidentally displaced into the maxillary sinus during exodontia and was surgically retrieved almost 2 years later is described. The tooth was removed under general anesthesia, after maxillary sinus exposure through Caldwell-Luc approach. Postoperative recovery was uneventful. Six months after the retrieval surgery, the maxilla...
متن کاملUnorthodox Change in the Angulation of an Impacted Mandibular Third Molar: A rare Case Report
Background: Third molars are the most frequently impacted teeth, and extensive research has been carried out delineating their impaction prevalence, classification, and treatment approaches. We present a rare case of an impacted mandibular third molar which went through unprecedented changes in angulation over an eight-year time span with no particular pathologic, traumatic, or therapeutic inte...
متن کاملInverted and impacted maxillary third molar. Report of two cases.
Two cases of inverted and impacted third molars are described. They were conservatively managed without surgery. Complications that may arise from surgical removal of inverted and impacted teeth must be carefully considered beforehand. These should be weighed against the benefit of surgical removal. The two cases are reported because impaction with inversion of a molar tooth is not common.
متن کاملBenign Cementoblastoma Associated with an Impacted Mandibular Third Molar – Report of an Unusual Case
Cementoblastoma is characterized by the formation of cementum-like tissue in direct connection with the root of a tooth. It is a rare lesion constituting less than 1% of all odontogenic tumors. The association of cementoblastomas ...
