CONCERNING THE PRE-SOCRATIC DOCTRINES IN RHETORIC

Background. Mastering the rhetorical art as a philological discipline must be based on scientific understanding of subject speech influence. The latter is only possible if one masters not knowledge current state discipline, but also ability to analyze theoretical achievements rhetoric in its formation and elaboration. That what enables scholar assess adequacy ratio learning goals objectives, well correctness moral, pedagogical preferences underlying mastery subject.
 Purpose. article analyzes scholarly principles most important trends early Greek rhetoric, represented main concepts ancient sophists.
 Materials methods. research material was general didactic postulates prominent rhetoricians period question. To highlight approaches, method critical analysis structural-semantic historical methods are used.
 Results. demonstrates that study origins gives correct direction understanding. reason predominantly nature orientation towards practical goals. Nevertheless, analyzed enable us assert them, approaches time, basis present form rationalizing essence prospects pathos logos, being considered with an emphasis comparison justification competing views, actual linguistic techniques ensure effectiveness verbal influence.
 Practical implications. data obtained can used construction evaluation argumentation debates, university courses stylistics for discussing problem means.
