Computer-Based Instruction in Teaching Secondary Biology

This study investigates the effectiveness of Computer-Based Instruction (CBI) in teaching Biology to 7th graders a secondary night school Cebu City, Philippines. A pretest and posttest quasi-experimental design with control group was utilized two groups students, which one exposed CBI other conventional lecture method (CLM). An Instructional Materials Motivation Survey (IMMS) used assess its motivational characteristics. Data gathered were analyzed using descriptive statistics, frequency count percentage, mean standard deviation, t-test. Findings revealed that both had Fairly Satisfactory performance pretest, implies students low knowledge on topic. The also found significantly increased their performances from pretests posttests, implying essence CLM use. Ultimately, use is more effective than CLM, as seen enhanced students’ performance, signifying instruction computer concepts. commended for being user-friendly, autonomous, self-paced, self-regulating instructional helped them enhance least learned competencies. contextualized crafted serve guide teachers enable pave way mastery different competencies Biology.
