چکیده
Computational microfluidics for geosciences is the third leg of scientific strategy that includes microfluidic experiments and high-resolution imaging deciphering coupled processes in geological porous media. This modeling approach solves fundamental equations continuum mechanics exact geometry materials. intends to complement augment laboratory experiments. Although field still its infancy, recent progress multiphase flow reactive transport at pore-scale has shed new light on mechanisms occurring media already. In this paper, we review state-of-the-art computational geosciences, open challenges, future trends.

Computational methods for microfluidics
This thesis is concerned with computational methods for fluid flows on the microscale, also known as microfluidics. This is motivated by current research in biological physics and miniaturization technology, where there is a need to understand complex flows involving microscale structures. Numerical simulations are an important tool for doing this. The first paper of the thesis presents a numer...

Three Galerkin methods using discontinuous approximation spaces are introduced to solve elliptic problems. The underlying bilinear form for all three methods is the same and is nonsymmetric. In one case, a penalty is added to the form and in another, a constraint on jumps on each face of the triangulation. All three methods are locally conservative and the third one is not restricted. Optimal a...
متن کاملRadial Basis Function-generated Finite Differences: A Mesh-free Method for Computational Geosciences
Radial basis function generated finite differences (RBF-FD) is a mesh-free method for numerically solving partial differential equations (PDEs) that emerged in the last decade and has shown rapid growth in the last few years. From a practical standpoint, RBF-FD sprouted out of global RBF methods, which have shown exceptional numerical qualities in terms of accuracy and time stability for numeri...
متن کاملDynamics analysis of microparticles in inertial microfluidics for biomedical applications
Inertial microfluidics-based devices have recently attracted much interest and attention due to their simple structure, high throughput, fast processing and low cost. They have been utilised in a wide range of applications in microtechnology, especially for sorting and separating microparticles. This novel class of microfluidics-based devices works based on intrinsic forces, which cause micropa...
