Computation of Strip Road Networks Based on Harvester Location Data

The location information of strip roads in thinnings and the numerical variables are one aspect timber harvest quality information. ideal automatic management for mechanized logging is that calculated reported based on data collected by forest machines. At present, means laborious, manual, field-based, post-harvest measurements. aim this study was to develop an method compute harvested stands after harvesting, stem-specific harvester. Subsequently, road were computed from networks. networks validated with 21 manually recorded field references. also applied operational stand data, including 544 Southern Finland. results showed computation produces well-located, stand-specific which can be accurately determined, covering whole stand. Thus, promotes automation reporting. support harvester operator work during harvesting and, later, operations.
