Compulsory hospitalization in child psychiatry: clinical and sociodemographic profile of Tunisian inpatients

Introduction The department of child psychiatry in Razi Hospital is the unique psychiatric unit Northern Tunisia offering full-time hospitalization for minors with mental health disorders. Objectives aim our study was to explore clinical and therapeutic characteristics compulsory admissions hospital between 2011 2019. Methods We conducted a retrospective medical records inpatients admitted Results Over nine years, total number 74 inpatients, aged from 11 16 years old. increased 03 22 Most were boys (sex ration=1.46). mean age 14, 1 year Heteroagressiveness reason admission half cases followed by risk behaviors (30.1%) suicidal (18.6%). diagnosis conduct disorder found 33.3% normal examination 11.8% cases. Mood disorders 9.8% Parental psychoeducation (100%), individual psychotherapy (91%) family therapy (88,2%) treatment choice inpatients. prevalence medication 45.1%. most important forms used neuroleptics (42.3% medicated patients) mood stabilizers (30.7%). Child protection delegates involved 86,4% social intervention. Conclusions Minors an involuntary mode have their own specifities terms characteristics.
