Compressive local buckling of integrated fluted-core sandwich composite panels

Fluted-core sandwich structures, consisting of fiber-reinforced plastics, are frequently utilized in the aerospace industry owing to their excellent strength-to-weight ratio. However, thin-walled structures prone local buckling, which reduces load-bearing capacity and eventually leads material failure. The current study presents analytical models for predicting buckling fluted-core panels subjected uniform compressive load. proposed method is based on a discrete plate analysis approach, considers face-sheets between two webs as rotationally-restrained plates, wherein rotational restraint stiffness determined geometric configuration properties. Herein, boundary conditions, i.e., simply-supported clamped, along loaded edges were studied. Several deflection functions classical Rayleigh–Ritz method, satisfying conditions. experimental tests finite element simulations carried out analyze behavior, rendering consistency demonstrating reliability method. effects parameters behavior systematically studied results revealed that with high computational efficiency reliable, exhibiting promise eventual success optimization preliminary engineering designs.
