چکیده
Abstract Aged conifer forests in Japan are expected to produce large-diameter logs, defined as logs with a top-end diameter of 30 cm or more. However, the knowledge and techniques for industrial processing Japanese wood species have not been sufficiently developed. This study was aimed at characterizing longitudinal component residual stress distribution sugi (Japanese cedar, Cryptomeria japonica ), major tree cultivated Japan, yield primary lumber from is affected by magnitude pattern stress. The radial distributions released strain stress, tensile Young’s modulus, were measured using 63 logs. showed typical patterns reported previous studies: contraction near bark elongation pith strain, bark, compressive pith. modulus pattern: low high bark. difference between maximum minimum strains each log varied widely among individuals, which result wide variation crooking when rip sawing. uniformity axial symmetry experimentally confirmed, lays groundwork improved understanding

Modeling Diameter Growth and Self-Thinning in Planted Sugi (Cryptomeria japonica) Stands
Abstract: The objectives of this study were to analyze diameter growth in relation to natural thinning in high-density stands in even-aged, pure plantation forests and to develop a growth prediction system based on Japanese permanent plot data. Long-term data recorded in even-aged, pure, unthinned stand plots of Sugi (Cryptomeria japonica) forests were available. Relationships between log-trans...
متن کاملBiomass and morphology of fine roots of sugi (Cryptomeria japonica) after 3 years of nitrogen fertilization
Increasing nitrogen (N) deposition may affect carbon and nutrient dynamics in forest ecosystems. To better understand the effects of N deposition, we need to improve our knowledge of N effects on fine roots (roots <2 mm in diameter), as they are a key factor in carbon and nutrient dynamics. In this study, we fertilized 1 × 2 m plots in a sugi (Cryptomeria japonica) stand (336 kg ha(-) (1) y(-) ...
متن کاملa contrastive study of rhetorical functions of citation in iranian and international elt scopus journals
writing an academic article requires the researchers to provide support for their works by learning how to cite the works of others. various studies regarding the analysis of citation in m.a theses have been done, while little work has been done on comparison of citations among elt scopus journal articles, and so the dearth of research in this area demands for further investigation into citatio...
Allergic conjunctivitis caused by sugi (Cryptomeria japonica D. Don) pollen out of season.
Allergic conjunctivitis caused by sugi pollen is considered to be strictly a "spring disease". However, a recent report indicated that sugi pollen is scattered not only in spring but in all seasons, especially in the autumn. We retrospectively determined the number of patients with allergic conjunctivitis caused by sugi pollen during each month for 3 consecutive years, and also investigated the...
متن کاملForecasting models for sugi (Cryptomeria japonica D. Don) pollen count showing an alternate dispersal rhythm.
BACKGROUND Pollen information is indispensable for allergic individuals and clinicians. This study aimed to develop forecasting models for the total annual count of airborne pollen grains based on data monitored over the last 20 years at the Mie Chuo Medical Center, Tsu, Mie, Japan. METHODS Airborne pollen grains were collected using a Durham sampler. Total annual pollen count and pollen coun...
