Composite Carbon Foams as an Alternative to the Conventional Biomass-Derived Activated Carbon in Catalytic Application

چکیده

The suitability of a new type polyurethane-based composite carbon foam for several possible usages is evaluated and reported. A comparison the properties as-prepared foams was performed with widely available commercial biomass-derived activated carbon. Carbon were synthesized from polyurethane different graphite contents through one-step activation using CO2. In this work, catalyst moderately active surface (SBET = 554 m2/g), thermal conductivity 0.09 W/mK, minimum metal ion content 0.2 wt%, which can be recommended phosgene production. exhibited better stability, as there very little weight loss at temperatures below 500 °C, slower above °C (phosgene synthesis: 550–700 °C). Owing to good negligible metallic impurities, produced are best alternative conventional coconut-based used in gas

Combination of Ozone with Activated Carbon as an Alternative to Conventional Advanced Oxidation Processes

The objective of this study was to compare the efficiency of O3/granular activated carbon (GAC) to enhance ozone transformation into OH radicals, with the common advanced oxidation processes (O3/OH , O3/H2O2). The results obtained with model systems under the given experimental conditions showed that the system O3/OH (pH 9) and O3/H2O2 (pH 7, [H2O2] = 1 10 -5 M) are more efficient than O3/GAC (...

The Perlite-calcium Alginate-activated Carbon Composite as an Efficient Adsorbent for the Removal of Dyes from Aqueous Solutions

To remove dyes from wastewater, the perlite-calcium alginate–activated carbon (PCA) composite was prepared by a simple method. This composite was characterized by FTIR, XRD, SEM, and BET techniques. A high capacity of PCA was observed for the adsorption of some dyes such as methylene blue (MB) and methyl orange (MO) from aqueous solutions (1111 and 909 mg g-1). The best results were achieved at...

Comparison of submicron-diameter carbon filaments and conventional carbon fibers as fillers in composite materials

This review provides a comparison of submicron-diameter carbon filaments and conventional carbon fibers as fillers in composite materials. Carbon filaments (0.1 mm diameter, catalytically grown) are superior to conventional carbon fibers (discontinuous) as a filler in providing polymer–matrix and cement–matrix composites for electromagnetic performance, but are inferior to the fibers as a fille...

Preparation and Characterization of Activated Carbon derived from olive stone as adsorbent for Congo Red

Carbon activated powdered was prepared from activated carbon derived from olive stone. Then byusing the surface methodology, many parameters such as pH, furnace temperature (T), acid ratio, time of activation that affect on the qualities prepared activated carbon produced and its efficiencywere investigated. In addition, the adsorption of Congo Red onto the activated olive stone carbonactive was...

Conventional steam activation for conversion of oil palm kernel shell biomass into activated carbon via biochar product

Conventional steam activation pyrolysis of waste materials such as oil palm kernel shell for production of biochar was investigated using central composite design. Conventional steam activation was carried out via an initial carbonization of oil palm kernel shell to obtain biochar and thereafter steam activation of the biochar using the conventional heating to produce activated carbon. Addition...
