چکیده
Background: Complex distal radius fracture (CDRF) associated with median nerve injury is rarely reported due to low incidence or recognition rate. Thus, we the outcome of using distraction bridge plate fixation (DBPF) in managing CDRF without volar exploration. Case description: We a 67-years old male who sustained pain right wrist dorsal angulated deformation following fall on an outstretched hand two hours before being admitted emergency department. The patient also complained numbness all fingers except little finger hand. Posteroanterior (PA)/right lateral X-rays showed grossly displaced comminuted ulnar styloid avulsion. diagnosis was injury. He underwent surgery setting DBPF side opening site guided by image intensifier. Early mobilization started as could tolerate pain, and neuromuscular electrical stimulation given twice week after surgery. Plate removal done six months continued range motion exercise wrist. Conclusion: It important consider anatomical reduction additional soft tissue trauma early decision based physical examination management. stable allows axonal regeneration injury, proved good functional outcomes. suitable for post-operative wound care decreases costs compared staged However, still need further investigate this procedure through higher comparison studies.

Case Report: Median Nerve Cavernous Hemangioma
Hemangiomas of the median nerve are extremely rare; only 12 cases have been reported in the literature. We discuss a patient who presented with paresthesia and pain along the distribution of the left median nerve secondary to a cavernoma of the proximal part of the nerve as suspected on MRI scan. Total removal of the mass was achieved with immediate relief of the symptoms and no neurologic defi...
متن کاملVolar Distal Radioulnar Joint Dislocation Associated with Acute Median Nerve Neuropathy and a Distal Radius Fracture
Volar distal radioulnar (DRUJ) dislocations are uncommon and can easily be missed. We present a rare case of an irreducible volar DRUJ dislocation associated with a distal radius fracture and acute median nerve neuropathy at the wrist. An attempt to reduce the DRUJ dislocation in the emergency department had failed. The patient was then taken to the operating room requiring a carpal tunnel rele...
متن کاملDistal radius nonunion after volar locking plate fixation of a distal radius fracture: a case report
We describe a 59-year-old man who had nonunion of a right distal radius fracture after volar locking plate fixation. He underwent open reduction and internal fixation with a volar locking plate system for a dorsally displaced, unstable distal radius fracture at a previous hospital 5 months ago. Radiographs of the injured wrist showed nonunion of the distal radius with 1.5-mm ulnar minus varianc...
متن کاملComparison of the Frequency of Recurrent Laryngeal Nerve Injury with and without Exploration of the Nerve in Thyroidectomy
Background & Aims: Surgeons are not willing to participate in thyroid surgeries due to dangerous, although rare, complications of the procedure. Post thyroidectomy complications are divided in early and late onset; hypocalcemia, bleeding, thyroid storm and recurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN) injury are the most important ones. This study was performed to compare the frequency of recurrent laryngeal...
متن کاملVariation in median nerve nutritional artery at the distal end of forearm: case report
Background: The median nerve is one of the most important branches of the brachial plexus. Due to the role of the median nerve in sensory and motor innervation of the forearm and hand in the upper limbs, its blood supply is very important. Awareness of variations in the blood supply pattern to this nerve reduces the incidence of necrosis and ischemia of the nerve during surgical and diagnostic ...
