The complete sequence of a human astrovirus.
We have determined the complete genomic sequence of human astrovirus serotype 1 isolated in Newcastle upon Tyne. The genome is 6813 nucleotides long and contains three sequential open reading frames (ORFs). The two closest to the 5' end are linked by a ribosomal frameshifting motif and contain sequence motifs indicative of non-structural virus proteins: serine protease and RNA-dependent RNA pol...
متن کاملComplete genome sequence of a newly identified porcine astrovirus genotype 3 strain US-MO123.
Astrovirus (AstV) infections are among the most common causes of gastroenteritis and are also associated with extraintestinal manifestations in humans and many animals. Herein, for the first time, the complete genome sequence of newly identified porcine astrovirus genotype 3 (PAstV3) strain US-MO123 was determined. Sequence comparison and phylogenetic analysis showed that PAstV3 has the closest...
متن کاملComplete genome of a novel porcine astrovirus.
Astroviruses have been widely described in mammalian and avian species. Here, we report a complete genome sequence of a novel porcine astrovirus (PoAstV) isolated from a porcine fecal sample in China. The genome consists of 6,611 nucleotides, excluding the 3' poly(A) tail, and has two open reading frames (ORFs). ORF1 maps between nucleotide positions 19 and 4211 and encodes a 1,396-amino-acid (...
متن کاملComplete Genome Sequence of a Novel Feline Astrovirus from a Domestic Cat in Hong Kong
We report the first complete genome sequence of a feline astrovirus (FAstV), FAstV2 strain 1637F, identified from a domestic cat. The genome is 6,779 nucleotides (nt) in length and consists of three overlapping open reading frames (ORF1a-ORF1b-ORF2). Sequence analysis suggests that FAstV2 represents a new FAstV genotype that is closely related to human astroviruses.
متن کاملComplete genome sequence of canine astrovirus with molecular and epidemiological characterisation of UK strains
Astroviruses are a common cause of gastroenteritis in children worldwide. These viruses can also cause infection in a range of domestic and wild animal species. Canine astrovirus (CaAstV) was first identified in the USA, and has since been reported in dogs from Europe, the Far East and South America. We sought to determine whether CaAstV is circulating in the UK dog population, and to character...
