Competition and Justice in Adam Smith

This article analyzes the relationship between competition and justice in Adam Smith order to determine what extent can promote undermine justice. I examine how features two basic motivations for human action, “the propensity truck barter exchange,” desire of bettering our condition.” Both be traced back recognition, but they operate very different ways. The former manifests itself social cooperation, chiefly commercial exchange division labor, while it take a competitive form, success produces benefits everyone. In contrast, latter may manifest win-lose competition. Commercial society harnesses both motivations, have negative as well positive effects. However, explicitly addresses effects excessive specialization is less clear he thinks addressed. argue that when (i) pits people against each other (ii) leads psychological corruption. conclude with some reflections on focus adds understanding Smith's work.
