Comparison of mean systemic pressure in patients with acute circulatory failure receiving passive leg raising vs. pneumatic leg compression

Background: Driving pressure of venous return (VR) is determined by a gradient between mean systemic (Pms) and central (CVP). While passive leg raising (PLR) pneumatic compression PC (PC) can increase VR, no study has explored the effects these two procedures on Pms VR-related hemodynamic variables. Methods: Forty patients with acute circulatory failure were enrolled in this analysis. All obtained both PLR PC, measured for Pms, CVP, arterial (MAP), cardiac output (CO), VR resistance (RVR), vascular (SVR) at baseline immediately after procedures. To minimize carry over effect, divided 2 groups based procedure sequence which 1) receiving first then (PLR-first), 2) (PC-first). Both waited washout period before performing second procedure.
