چکیده

Objective: To compare the frequency of union in cases treated with percutaneous intramedullary kirschner wire versus interfragmentary screw fixation displaced extra-articular metacarpal fractures. Study Design: Randomized controlled trial. Place and Duration: The Department Othropedic surgery, Ghurki Trust Teaching Hospital Lahore, Pakistan from May 2021 to November 2021. Methodology: A total 70 (35 each group) both genders aged 18-60 years fracture were included. Surgery was performed patient under peripheral anesthesia adopting pneumatic tourniquet image intensification. Patients randomly divided into 2 groups, undergoing either K-wire or Screw Fixation. followed up till 16th week see union. Results: mean age patients group 37.89±9.34 40.17±12.82 years. In group, there 24 (68.57%) male 11(31.4%) female while 17 (48.6%) 18 (51.4%) cases. 20 (57.1%) reported 33 (94.3%) at final follow (p<0.001). Practical Implications: Interfragmentary displace fractures yielded better outcomes. Conclusion: Significantly more comparison wire. Keywords: Metacarpal fractures, internal fixation, K-wire,

Metacarpal fractures treated by percutaneous Kirschner wire

Introduction: Metacarpals and phalanges are injury prone in daily work and life. These constitute 10% of all fractures. Although these fractures are considered minor injuries, such injuries may cause major disabilities if not taken care of. Most hand fractures can be treated by nonoperative methods with good outcome. However unstable fractures need some form of fixation. Aim of our study is to ...

Open intramedullary Kirschner wire versus screw and plate fixation for unstable forearm fractures in children.

PURPOSE To compare the outcomes of intramedullary Kirschner wire versus screw and plate fixation for unstable forearm fractures in children aged older than 10 years. METHODS Records of 32 children aged 10 to 15 (mean, 12) years with displaced fractures of the radius and ulna were retrospectively reviewed. 17 boys and 4 girls underwent intramedullary Kirschner wiring, whereas 10 boys and one g...

Single retrograde intramedullary wire fixation of metacarpal shaft fractures.

From 1993 to present day, 110 metacarpal fractures in 89 patients were stabilised using a method of inserting a percutaneous intramedullary wire. This allowed for early unimpeded movement in wrist and hand together with ease of wire removal in clinic. Reduction was maintained in all patients until fracture healing, and there were no malunions. One was re-done owing to inadequate reduction intra...

Percutaneous Kirschner-wire fixation for displaced distal forearm fractures in children.

A prospective study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of percutaneous Kirschner-wire fixation for the management of high-risk distal forearm fractures in children. Thirty two children (22 boys & 10 girls) with displaced fractures of the distal third of the radius with or without ulnar fractures were managed by closed reduction and percutaneous Kirschner-wire fixation. Their average age was...
