چکیده
Background: Transcutaneous bilirubin measurement (TcB) is widely used in term babies, but its effectiveness as well the suitable site for preterm babies still debated. Aim and Objective: To compare diagnostic accuracy of different transcutaneous sites with serum total neonate. Methods: This prospective comparative study was carried out special care baby unit at Alwahda teaching hospital-Derna-Libya. (102) infants (gestational age less than 37 weeks) whom clinical jaundice significant mandating TSB were included study. Study subjects who met inclusion criteria chosen consecutively. All measurements within first postnatal week. measured from four sites: forehead, sternum, abdomen interscapular region 30 min measurement. Results: Correlation coefficients 0.69, 0.70, 0.67 0.69 respectively. TcB all correlated significantly (p < 0.001), correlation best abdominal site. Conclusions: an acceptable method identification hyperbilirubinemia requiring treatment newborns.

Comparison of Transcutaneous Bilirubin Measurement With Total Serum Bilirubin Levels in Preterm Neonates Receiving Phototherapy.
OBJECTIVE To compare transcutaneous bilirubin with total serum bilirubin in preterm neonates after initiation of phototherapy. METHODS Jaundice was assessed in 30 preterm neonates with transcutaneous bilirubin and total serum bilirubin before initiation of phototherapy and at 12 hr after initiation of phototherapy. A photo-occlusive patch was applied over the sternum. RESULTS Transcutaneous...
متن کاملA Comparison between Transcutaneous Bilirubin (TcB) and Total Serum Bilirubin (TSB) Measurements in Term Neonates
Background: Transcutaneous bilirubinometry (TCB) is a simple method for estimating bilirubin levels in neonates. This method is noninvasive, quick, and painless. We aimed to compare serum and cutaneous bilirubin measurements in term neonates.Method: In this descriptive cross-sectional study, 200 neonates with icter with birth weights of at least 2500 grams were studied. TCB was measured using a...

متن کاملValidation of a transcutaneous bilirubin meter in Mongolian neonates: comparison with total serum bilirubin
BACKGROUND Neonatal hyperbilirubinemia, especially kernicterus, can be prevented by screening for neonatal jaundice. The transcutaneous bilirubin (TcB) meter is a non-invasive medical device for screening neonates. The study aimed to investigate the validity of a TcB meter in a resource-limited setting such as Mongolia. METHODS Term and late preterm neonates from the National Center for Mater...
