Comparison of calibration factors for field-class dosimeters

This paper presents a comparison performed between two calibration laboratories in several radiation qualities, using dosimeters of varying quality as transfer instruments. The goal this work was to investigate the viability field-class for official comparisons and determine if factors are comparable within stated measurement uncertainties. results were acceptable high-quality electronic personal all such could be used On other hand, low-quality often not acceptable, either due pronounced energy dependence, low stability, or both. Such instruments unreliable even under well-defined laboratory conditions, their use routine measurements may cause doubt data influence public opinion. problem is hidden because many calibrated verified only 137Cs beams, where deviations smallest. largest differences found low-energy X-ray have significant overresponse.
