چکیده
Objective: To compare bipolar diathermy and suture ligation for haemostasis in tonsillectomy terms of the amount blood loss, number ligatures applied, average time taken incidence postoperative haemorrhage. Study Design: Randomized controlled trial Place Duration Study: Multicenter study conducted ENT Surgery Departments/Units Public Private Sector Hospitals Lahore from 1st July 2017 to 31st 2018. Methodology: Sixty six patients were enrolled. Informed consent demographic information was takenfrom all patients. Patient himself control trial. One tonsil treated with technique (Group A) other B). Both side randomized. The outcome both groups noted. Results: mean age 12.39±7.41 years male female ratio 0.8:1. group A 14.32±2.81 minutes whereas B it 10.62±1.76 minutes. loss 42.82±13.360 ml 28.015±8.619 ml. post-operative haemorrhage zero ligation, which shows safety procedures. Conclusion: Bipolar is safe, effective, easier faster than Keywords: Tonsillectomy, Diathermy, Ligation Technique

متن کاملEvaluation of safety of bipolar diathermy tonsillectomy.
BACKGROUND Tonsillectomy is a common operation in both children as well as adults, performed by a variety of techniques that have evolved over the years to ensure the safety of the procedure. Cold dissection and electrodissection are the two mostly used techniques. Bipolar diathermy tonsillectomy was evaluated for its safety and postoperative morbidity. METHODS This study was conducted over a...

Background: Tonsillectomy is a commonly performed surgical procedure. There are several operative methods but the superiority of one over the other has not been clearly demonstrated. The aim of this study was to compare the morbidity associated with tonsillectomy using two different techniques for hemostasis – silk ligation versus diathermy. Material and Methods: This was an experimental study ...
