چکیده
Background: Regional anesthesia avoids airway instrumentation, preserves conscious level and provide rapid recovery with significant postoperative analgesia. There has always been a search for adjuvants to the regional nerve block drugs that prolong duration of analgesia but lesser adverse effects. The ideal additive still continues, therefore in this study, we investigated effects addition dexamethasone versus clonidine levobupivacaine supraclavicular brachial plexus block. primary outcome study was onset sensory block, motor secondary Aims Objectives: aim compare effect on anesthesia, when used as an adjuvant 7. Materials Methods: In prospective, double-blind, randomized controlled trial, 60 patients American Society Anaesthesiologists physical status I/II scheduled undergo upper limb surgeries below shoulder were enrolled. randomly divided into two groups: Group I (n=30): 20 mL 0.5% isobaric 2 dexamethasone. II 30 mcg (diluted normal saline, making volume mL). Results: Clonidine added early less blockade compared Conclusion: Dexamethasone should be preferred whenever longer post-operative is required.

Background: Alpha-2 agonists are added to local anesthetic agents to extend the duration of peripheral nerve blocks. Objective: We evaluated the effect of combining dexmedetomidine with levobupivacine with respect to duration of motor and sensory block and duration of analgesia. Material and Methods: Sixty patients of ASA grade I or II aged between 18-60 years, posted for elective upper limb su...

Adjuncts to local anaesthetics for brachial plexus block enhances the quality and duration of analgesia. The purpose of this study was to compare two alpha-2 agonists clonidine and dexmedetomidine, when added as adjuvant to ropivacaine, in respect to onset, duration of sensory and motor block along with duration of analgesia. After informed consent, Sixty ASA I and II patients scheduled for ele...
متن کاملEvaluation of clonidine as an adjuvant to brachial plexus block and its comparison with tramadol
BACKGROUND AND AIMS It has been reported that clonidine when used as an additive in a dose of 90 μg in adults increases the duration of peripheral nerve blocks. Hence, this study was conducted to evaluate the effect of clonidine in brachial plexus blocks and to compare it with tramadol. MATERIAL AND METHODS Ninety patients posted for upper limb orthopedic surgery were divided randomly into th...
