Comparison And Evaluation Of Drought Indices Using Analytical Hierarchy Process (Ahp) Over Raichur District, Karnataka

The Raichur district is considered as a drought prone area in Karnataka. study was carried out to compare and evaluate the performance of six indices namely Standardized precipitation index (SPI), evapotranspiration (SPEI), China Z (CZI), Deciles, Percent Normal (PN) Rainfall anamoly (RAI). A time series were compared evaluated using histogram analytical hierarchy process (AHP). showed that PN, Deciles RAI higher frequency extreme events which misleading analysis. During evaluation no bias done between indices. SPI CZI moved top rank mainly due their robustness sophistication nature. Whereas, PN second position because its simplicity other with score 18.49 18.10 17.99 (CZI). SPEI observed sophistication, lack tractability transparency be lagged. Furthermore like deciles very good under tractability. least robust, thought has scored 2nd it highly not recommended for adaptation studies unreasonably capturing droughts. Looking over all pros cons perfect selected area.
