Comparing Gamification Models in Higher Education Using Face-to-Face and Virtual Escape Rooms

Gamification is a training model that encourages the inclusion of active methodologies into learning environments. The objective this study to analyze effects gamified experience through virtual and face-to-face escape rooms as well determine generated levels fun, absorption, creative thinking, mastery, activation, absence negative student grades. A descriptive correlational experimental design has been used. In total, 105 Spanish university students participated. data was collected using scale validated in context called Gameful Experience (GAMEX). results reveal significant variability according environment. environments, students’ fun activation were promoted, generating pleasant entertainment experiences. influence, autonomy, creativity, exploration by increased. Similarly, these environments shared high spatio-temporal absorption an effects. Regarding ratings, no statistically confirm their effectiveness depending on environment determined, but good scores obtained. It concluded choice will depend dimensions goals teacher intends achieve during process.
