Comparing functions of and recollection with recently taken and recently deleted smartphone camera photos

Abstract The current study examined why people take and delete photos with smartphone cameras, participants' recollective experiences saved deleted photos. Two mixed‐methods surveys asked undergraduates (Study 1) an international online sample 2) to review both recently taken from their smartphones' photo album or trash bin. Participants recollected the photographed events for types of rated quality recollections. Events were remembered more vividly, positively, emotionally intensely compared recollection also gave short responses about they originally took photos, as well had Consistent prior work, different photo‐taking goals associated experiences, especially mementos offload information.
