Comparing Combined 1D/2D and 2D Hydraulic Simulations Using High-Resolution Topographic Data: Examples from Sri Lanka—Lower Kelani River Basin

چکیده
The application of numerical models to understand the behavioural pattern a flood is widely found in literature. However, selection an appropriate hydraulic model highly essential conduct reliable predictions. Predicting discharges and inundation extents are two most important outcomes simulations stakeholders. Precise topographical data channel geometries along suitable required accurately predict floods. One-dimensional (1D) now replaced by two-dimensional (2D) or combined 1D/2D for higher performances. Hydraulic Engineering Centre’s River Analysis System (HEC-RAS) has been used all three forms predicting characteristics. comparison studies among 1D, 2D limited literature identify better/best approach. Therefore, this research was carried out better approach using example case study Kelani basin Sri Lanka. Two events (in 2016 2018) were separately simulated tested their accuracy observed inundations satellite-based inundations. It that HEC-RAS outperforms other prediction flows both events. can be concluded as characteristics With more studies, conclusions generalized.

Global Sensitivity Analysis with 2D Hydraulic Codes: Application on Uncertainties Related to High-Resolution Topographic Data
Technologies such as aerial photogrammetry allow production of 3D topographic data including complex environments such as urban areas. Therefore, it is possible to create High Resolution (HR) Digital Elevation Models (DEM) incorporating thin above ground elements influencing overland flow paths. Even though this category of big data has a high level of accuracy, there are still errors in measur...
متن کاملInundation monitoring through high-resolution SAR/InSAR data and 2D hydraulic simulations
In the present paper, COSMO-SkyMed high-resolution data acquired on the southern Basilicata region (Italy) are used for flood hazard monitoring. We concentrate on the flood event of Nov. 2-4, 2010, for which multi-temporal SAR data were available over the Bradano River downstream area in the same acquisition geometry, which allows interferometric processing. SAR intensity data analysis of two a...

Identification of high potential risk and susceptible zones for natural hazards of geological origin is one of the most important applications of advanced remote sensing technology in tropical environments. Yearly, several landslides occur during heavy monsoon rainfall in Kelantan river basin, Peninsular Malaysia, which are obviously connected to geological structures and topographical features...
