Comparing amber fossil assemblages across the Cenozoic.
To justify faunistic comparisons of ambers that differ botanically, geographically and by age, we need to determine that resins sampled uniformly. Our pluralistic approach, analysing size distributions of 671 fossilized spider species from different behavioural guilds, demonstrates that ecological information about the communities of two well-studied ambers is retained. Several lines of evidenc...
متن کاملAnother fossil agaric from Dominican amber.
We report the discovery of a fossil agaricoid homobasidiomycete from Dominican amber (ca 15-20 Ma). Aureofungus yaniguaensis appears to be a member of the euagarics clade, but its precise taxonomic placement is obscure. This is the fourth known fossil agaric and the third from Dominican amber.
متن کاملIchnotaxonomic analysis of trace fossil assemblages of the Upper Triassic Nayband Formation, Tabas Block, Central Iran
This study includes a thorough systematic analysis of the ichnological record in the Late Triassic siliciclastic Nayband Formation of the Tabas Block, Central Iran. A total of 48 ichnospecies representing 28 ichnogenera are identified and their preservation aspects, paleoecological aspects, producers and behavioral aspects are discussed. The ichnofauna includes Arenicolites, Asterosoma, Bergaue...
متن کاملNew Fossil Scorpion from the Chiapas Amber Lagerstätte
A new species of scorpion is described based on a rare entire adult male preserved in a cloudy amber from Miocene rocks in the Chiapas Highlands, south of Mexico. The amber-bearing beds in Chiapas constitute a Conservation Lagerstätte with outstanding organic preservation inside plant resin. The new species is diagnosed as having putative characters that largely correspond with the genus Tityus...
متن کاملFossil arthropods in Late Cretaceous Vendean amber (northwestern France)
A new species of fossil ray spider, Baalzebub? mesozoicum n. sp. (Araneae: Theridiosomatidae), is described from Mesozoic amber from the Cretaceous (Middle Cenomanian to Early Santonian) deposits of La Garnache, Vendée, NW France. The palpal structures, especially the highly sclerotized claw-shaped retrolateral ‘paracymbium’ originating as an outgrowth of the cymbium basally and the basal cymbi...
