Comparative Transcriptomic Analysis Reveals the Molecular Responses in Two Contrasting Hazelnut Varieties against Botrytis cinerea Infection

چکیده

Botrytis cinerea, a pathogenic fungus that causes necrosis in plants, is one of the most destructive pathogens hazelnuts. This responsible for causing Husk Brown Rot, significant threat to hazelnut production. The plant’s defense mechanism against this pathogen, as well other pathogens, complex biological process involves changes at molecular, biochemical, and physiological levels. To better understand molecular responses plants B. cinerea infection, we conducted comparative transcriptome profiling study between cinerea-resistant Ping’ou hybrid variety (Dawei; DW) susceptible (Qiuxiang; QX). Our focused on profiles DW QX after three days infection. results our showed moderate strategies both response Specifically, observed expression 14 disease-resistant genes was significantly different QX. analysis revealed had higher number immunity-related differentially expressed compared QX, which indicates these play crucial role inducing innate resistance highlights plant like controlled by multiple pathways, each playing specific role. findings provide new insights into development varieties are resistant By using candidate identified study, it may be possible enhance reduce impact Rot

Infection Strategies of Botrytis cinerea

Botrytis cinerea is a ubiquitous filamentous fungal pathogen of a wide range of plant species. The fungus is able to infect all aerial parts of its host plants to a certain extent. Infection may cause enormous damage both during plant growth and in the post-harvest phase (during cold storage or transport). B. cinerea is a major cause of economic loss in the production chain of cut flowers, bulb...

‘Omics’ and Plant Responses to Botrytis cinerea

Botrytis cinerea is a dangerous plant pathogenic fungus with wide host ranges. This aggressive pathogen uses multiple weapons to invade and cause serious damages on its host plants. The continuing efforts of how to solve the "puzzle" of the multigenic nature of B. cinerea's pathogenesis and plant defense mechanisms against the disease caused by this mold, the integration of omic approaches, inc...

Antifungal activity of eugenol against Botrytis cinerea

The antifungal properties of eugenol were tested against ten plant pathogenic fungal species and detailed studies were conducted regarding in vitro activity of eugenol on Botrytis cinerea. The EC50 value of eugenol on mycelial radial growth of B. cinerea was 38.6 μg/ mL; however, eugenol had no bioactivity against conidia germination. B. cinerea hyphae treated with eugenol showed strong propidi...

Network-Based Comparative Analysis of Arabidopsis Immune Responses to Golovinomyces orontii and Botrytis cinerea Infections

A comprehensive exploration of common and specific plant responses to biotrophs and necrotrophs is necessary for a better understanding of plant immunity. Here, we compared the Arabidopsis defense responses evoked by the biotrophic fungus Golovinomyces orontii and the necrotrophic fungus Botrytis cinerea through integrative network analysis. Two time-course transcriptional datasets were integra...

Enhancement of defense responses by oligandrin against Botrytis cinerea in tomatoes

Oligandrin is an elicitin-like protein with a molecular mass of 10 kDa secreted by Pythium oligandrum. Here, the effect of oligandrin on defense response against Botrytis cinerea in tomato leaves is reported. Tomato seedlings were pretreated with 5 ml oligandrin (10 g/ml) by root submerging and then inoculated with B. cinerea. Disease severity was subsequently evaluated and compared with the co...
