Comparative study on weathering durability property of phenol formaldehyde resin modified sweetgum and southern pine specimens

چکیده

The effects of low molecular weight phenol formaldehyde resin on weathering durability property sweetgum (Liquidambar styraciflua) and southern pine (Pinus taeda) specimens were studied using six wet-dry cycles with ultraviolet light accelerated test following ASTM via evaluating the water repellent efficiency, dimensional stability, crack formation wood. results showed that 1) efficiency treated quarter-sawn was higher than those flat-sawn specimens; 2) stabilities all improved by impregnating resin, especially for sweetgum; 3) there clearly more cracks exposed ends surfaces control ones, indicating modification used in this study not able to improve anti-cracking properties specimens. Generally, suitable be impregnated procedure described according stability order durability.

Thermal study of phenol-formaldehyde resin modified with cashew nut shell liquid

In this study, an experimental phenol–formaldehyde resin with 20% phenol replacement by cashew nut shell liquid (CNSL) was studied and compared with a conventional phenol–formaldehyde resin synthesized totally from petrochemical rawmaterials. The resins were characterizedwith standard lab analysis for their physicochemical specifications, while their thermal properties were studied with thermog...

Characterization and Performance of Melamine Enhanced Urea Formaldehyde Resin for Bonding Southern Pine Particleboard

Urea-formaldehyde resins modified by melamine were synthesized by four catalysts (H2SO4, HCl, H3PO4, and NaOH/NH4OH) with a F/U/M molar ratio of 1.38/1/0.074. Resin structure and thermal behavior were studied by C-NMR and DSC techniques. For H2SO4, HCl, and H3PO4 catalysts, resins were prepared by two stage pH adjustment: the first pH stage was set at 1.25 (H3PO4 pH 1.60) and second pH stage wa...

Thermal Degradation and Stability of Accelerated-curing Phenol-formaldehyde Resin

In order to study the thermal stability of accelerated-curing PF resin, the curing behavior of fresh PF resin was investigated in the presence of single accelerator of methylolurea derivatives (MMU), magnesium hydrate (Mg(OH)2), 25% aqueous solution of sodium carbonate (Na2CO3), and propylene carbonate (PC). Also their optimum combination was added in fresh PF resin. The thermal stability of cu...

Study of the interaction between poly ( ethy 1 ene oxide ) and phenol - formaldehyde resin

Interactions between poly(ethy1ene oxide) and phenol-formaldehyde resin play important roles in the mechanism by which the two polvmers improve fibre retention in the papermaking process. These were investigated at the concentration level and shear conditions found in this vrocess. The results indicste that the comvlex formed varies with pH and ionic strength over a very narrow range of conditi...
