Comparative Study of MgO Nanopowders Prepared by Different Chemical Methods

چکیده

Magnesium oxide (MgO) was synthesized by three different methods: the sol–gel (SG), microwave-assisted (MW), and hydrothermal (HT) methods for comparing influence of preparation conditions on properties products. The powders were annealed at 450 °C. samples characterized X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission (TEM/HRTEM), selected area diffraction (SAED), energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDX), BET specific surface porosity, photoluminescence, UV–Vis spectroscopy. consisted mainly periclase as a crystalline phase, MW HT generated particles with higher areas. had less-defined morphologies high levels aggregation. optical band gaps determined from UV DRS, photocatalytic activities magnesium oxides obtained towards degradation methyl orange (MO) under light irradiation evaluated.
