چکیده
Abstract Background Carpal tunnel syndrome is the most common entrapment neuropathy. Local injections of corticosteroids have proven to be an effective treatment option. Injections are either blind (non-guided) or guided by ultrasound. The current study aimed compare efficiency both approaches and determine which one yields better results. Method This involved 30 patients (8 males, 22 females, aged 36–58 years, mean age 48.3 years) with affected hands mild moderate carpal syndrome. Patients were randomly divided into two equal groups. Steroid performed blindly in group 1 ultrasound-guided 2. A mixture 2 ml triamcinolone lidocaine was administered at Follow-up (using Boston Tunnel Questionnaire ultrasound assessment) 4 weeks after injection. Results symptom severity scale, functional status cross-sectional area, flattening ratio significantly reduced groups procedure. showed a statistically significant improvement compared injected group. Conclusions steroid injection method management idiopathic secondary Although clinical sonographic achieved injections, results obtained when used.

The patients were evaluated for clinical and electrop...
متن کاملComparison of Ultrasound Findings of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome before and after Corticosteroid Injection
Background and Objective: Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is the most prevalent type of peripheral neuropathy due to neural entrapment. This syndrome is primarily diagnosed based on clinical symptoms, and it is subsequently confirmed by electro-diagnostic studies. Ultrasonography as a safe, available, and inexpensive method is also valuable in the follow-up of patients. This study aimed to evaluate the ...

OBJECTIVE To compare the outcomes of ultrasound-guided vs direct approach corticosteroid injection in patients with idiopathic carpal tunnel syndrome. METHODS A double-blind randomized controlled study. Wrists affected by carpal tunnel syndrome were randomized to the ultrasound-guided (n = 22 wrists) or direct approach injection group (n = 17 wrists) before receiving 1 ml Betamethasone. Outco...
