Comparative experimental study on macroscopic spray characteristics of various oxygenated diesel fuels

نویسندگان

چکیده

Under high ambient pressure (5 MPa) and different injection pressures (90, 120, 150 MPa), a high-speed imaging technique was carried out to comparatively investigate the macroscopic spray characteristics of diesel with three types blended fuel in constant volume chamber. The oxygenated fuels were n-butanol (B), pine oil (P), 2,5-dimethylfuran (DMF). All their blending ratio 20%. Results showed that less viscosity could be improved range experimental conditions. Then, tested had longer penetration greater area increasing from 90 MPa. On other hand, percentage increases mean cone angle D100, B20, P20, DMF20 3%, 4.4%, 2.4%, 2.9%, respectively. At same condition, penetrations P20 larger than but B20 basically similar D100. Besides, performance D100 < DMF20. In addition, comprehensive influence would benefit for developing atomization air–fuel mixture conventional fuel.

Experimental study of the diesel injector nozzle sediment effect on fuel spray behavior

High pressure amount of fuel in new generation diesel engines’ injector equipped with multiple and small nozzle holes has created significant improvement in the outgoing spray behavior and engine performance. On the other hand, poor fuel quality and injector nozzle embedded in high temperature combustion chamber form fundamental deposits on the nozzle leading to fuel spray inappropriate behavio...

Optimization of Synthetic Oxygenated Fuels

Background Mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions from transportation sources will require implementation of a variety of strategies, including improvements in the efficiency of overall vehicle/fuel systems, such as hybrid and new high-efficiency diesel engines, and use of synthetic fuels to replace or supplement petroleum-based fuels. A particularly attractive class of synthetic fuels is oxyge...

Health effects of oxygenated fuels.

The use of oxygenated fuels is anticipated to increase over the next decades. This paper reviews the toxicological and exposure information for methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE), a fuel additive, and methanol, a replacement fuel, and discusses the possible health consequences of exposure of the general public to these compounds. For MTBE, the health effects information available is derived alm...

Oxygenated Diesel: Emissions and Performance Characteristics of Ethanol-Diesel Blends in CI Engines

Diesel engines are major contributors of various types of air polluting exhaust gasses such as Particulate Matter (PM), Carbon monoxide (CO), Oxides of Nitrogen (NOx), Sulfur, and other harmful compounds. It has been shown that formation of these air pollutants can be significantly reduced by blending oxygenates into the base diesel. Ethanol blended diesel (e-diesel) is a cleaner burning altern...

Experimental investigation of using methanol-diesel blended fuels in diesel engine

A comprehensive study on the methanol as an alternative fuel has been carried out. A four stroke four cylinder diesel engine was adopted to study engine power, torque, break specific fuel consumption, break thermal efficiency and exhaust temperature with the fuel of fraction methanol in diesel. In this study, the diesel engine was tested using methanol blended with diesel at certain mixing rati...
