Comparative Effects of Amlodipine and Candesartan on Blood Pressure and Metabolic Profile in Non-Diabetic Hypertensive Patients

Introduction: The present study aimed to compare the effects of angiotensin II receptor blocker candesartan and calcium channel amlodipine on blood pressure metabolic profile in nondiabetic hypertensive patients. Methods: involved non-diabetic patients with mild moderate hypertension. They were randomly assigned receive or for 24 weeks, parameters evaluated at baseline after 12 weeks each patient group. Results: Candesartan both reduced HOMA-IR index significantly (P < 0.05, vs. baseline). was more effective than lowering HOMA-IR, although difference not significant statistically. Conclusion: Both are extremely reducing hypertension cilexetil has a major benefit terms tolerability, as it reduces risk developing dysregulation. Key words: Amlodipine, Candesartan, Hypertension, Insulin resistance.
