Compact 1 × N power splitters with arbitrary power ratio for integrated multimode photonics

Abstract We introduce a 1 × N integrated power splitter for the multimode photonics platform. The device converts an input laser beam into higher-order mode beam, which afterwards is split. core of this setup represented by non-uniform array waveguides that allows achieving arbitrary splitting. system exhibits high modal purity and tested against wavelength variations fabrication errors. possibility to include multi-input port configuration, leading various ratios via single device, provides further flexibility. Our analysis validated finite-element-method simulations. At best our knowledge, represents first design splitting modes.
