“Community” in Video Game Communities

The concept and experience of community have been changing in contemporary societies, from a traditional an idealistic, homogeneous context, characterized by union, to the exploration new forms organization participation. specific characteristics dynamics emerging video game (VG) communities can help us better understand importance cultures. Based on ethnographic study five jams data eight focus group discussions with jam VG participants, this explores analytic dimensions community: meanings perceptions associated community, feelings belonging, issues access, structure, organization, contexts These results improve our understanding ways participants be seen as creators culture how are recreating societies.
