Comment: Resolution of Collective Labour Disputes by Labour Relations Board in Ethiopia: Critical Reflections

This comment examines the Legal framework of collective labour disputes (CLD) resolution by Labour Relation Board (LRB) in Ethiopia. Only two members LRB out seven (and alternate members) are from legal profession. Moreover, there is no provision (under Proclamation) regarding selection criteria other Board. The decision rendered majority vote and appeal permitted only on error relating to issues. establishment that empowered decide CLDs indeed an extremely important initiative as nature cases demands bargaining law experts. However, professional profile not set under Proclamation for LRB; professionals. There should thus be clear need include more professionals LRB.
