چکیده
Abstract The friction force on a circular object rolling without sliding down an inclined plane is due to static friction. If the commences in mode at top of incline, and if incline angle small, then small additional arises reduce speed contact point zero sufficiently long. While sliding, total equal plus force. effect described theoretically supported by measurements linear angular velocities ball that slide smooth incline.

Liquid Drops sliding down an inclined plane
We investigate a one-dimensional model describing the motion of liquid drops sliding down an inclined plane (the so-called quasi-static approximation model). We prove existence and uniqueness of a solution and investigate its long time behavior for both homogeneous and inhomogeneous medium (i.e. constant and non-constant contact angle). We also obtain some homogenization results.
متن کاملOptimizing snake locomotion on an inclined plane.
We develop a model to study the locomotion of snakes on inclined planes. We determine numerically which snake motions are optimal for two retrograde traveling-wave body shapes, triangular and sinusoidal waves, across a wide range of frictional parameters and incline angles. In the regime of large transverse friction coefficients, we find power-law scalings for the optimal wave amplitudes and co...
متن کاملStatic and dynamic friction in sliding colloidal monolayers.
In a pioneer experiment, Bohlein et al. realized the controlled sliding of two-dimensional colloidal crystals over laser-generated periodic or quasi-periodic potentials. Here we present realistic simulations and arguments that besides reproducing the main experimentally observed features give a first theoretical demonstration of the potential impact of colloid sliding in nanotribology. The free...
متن کاملCompliant-mount Air Bushing System for Low-friction Motion of an Inclined-plane Impact Testing Apparatus
INTRODUCTION A testing apparatus has been developed to investigate the deformation of tissue during impact and penetration by a medical needle at varying velocities. The apparatus acts as a variable-angle inclined plane, with the needle mounted on a carriage which accelerates towards impact due to gravitational force. As the needle penetrates tissue, the tissue deforms due to forces applied by ...
