Combined action observation and motor imagery: An intervention to combat the neural and behavioural deficits associated with developmental coordination disorder

نویسندگان

چکیده

Action observation (AO) and motor imagery (MI) have been used separately across different populations to alleviate movement impairment. Recently these two forms of covert simulation combined (combined action imagery; AOMI), resulting in greater neurophysiological activity the system, more favourable behavioural outcomes when compared independent AO MI. This review aims outline how some neural deficits associated with developmental coordination disorder (DCD) are evident during MI, highlight techniques independently improve skill learning children this population. The growing body evidence indicating that AOMI is superior use either MI then synthesised discussed context DCD. To conclude, recommendations optimise delivery for DCD provided future avenues research highlighted.

The Effect of Combined Core Stability and Coordination Exercises on the Motor skills of Intellectual Disability with Developmental Coordination Disorders

Purpose: Developmental coordination disorder (DCD) is common among intellectual disability children that can worsen motor problems, especially motor skills. The purpose of the study was to examine the effect of combining core stability exercises with coordination exercises on Motor Proficiency of the intellectual disability children with DCD. Methods: The population was intellectual disability...

Sensory-motor deficits in children with developmental coordination disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and autistic disorder.

Children who have been diagnosed with any one developmental disorder are very likely to meet diagnostic criteria for some other developmental disorder. Although comorbidity has long been acknowledged in childhood disorders, little is understood about the mechanisms that are responsible for the high level of comorbidity. In a series of studies, we have investigated the link between sensory-motor...

Patients' Views on a Combined Action Observation and Motor Imagery Intervention for Parkinson's Disease

Background. Action observation and motor imagery activate neural structures involved in action execution, thereby facilitating movement and learning. Although some benefits of action observation and motor imagery have been reported in Parkinson's disease (PD), methods have been based on stroke rehabilitation and may be less suitable for PD. Moreover, previous studies have focused on either obse...

Comparison of Motor Skills in Children with Developmental Coordination Disorder and Normal Peers

Objectives: Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD) is a motor skill disorder which impacts upon a child, s ability to perform age-appropriate activity of daily living and academic performance. They have problems in gross & fine motors, their upper limb coordination are impaired, too. In this way, we decided to compare motors skills with BOTMP test in children with DCD and their normal peers....

Motor imagery skills of children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Developmental Coordination Disorder.

Up to 50% of children with ADHD experience motor impairment consistent with DCD. Debate continues as to whether this impairment is linked to inattention or is a genuine motor deficit. This study aimed to determine whether (1) inattention was greater in ADHD+DCD than in ADHD alone and (2) motor imagery deficits observed in DCD were present in ADHD+DCD. Four groups aged 7-12 years-ADHD, combined ...
